Alain Roche | REQUIEM FOR A DEAD SUN
Pianist, composer, scenographer and multi-instrumentalist Alain Roche presents REQUIEM FOR A DEAD SUN.

REQUIEM FOR A DEAD SUN is a piece for 2 pianos, 3 percussionists, a large choir of 100 singers and 2 vocal soloists.
While its form evokes the classical requiem, this single-movement 80-minute work draws on folk, pop and even progressive rock.
The libretto, in English, is by Élie Zoé . The musical and dramaturgical narrative follows the birth, life and death of a star — our star, the Sun.
In the words of Alain, “Through this macroscopic gaze upon cosmic cycles and timescales, I seek to place our human condition in perspective — equally cyclical, despite the vast difference in scale — exploring the emotions bound to transformation and finitude”.
In REQUIEM FOR A DEAD SUN Alain Roche shares the stage with German pianist Kai Schumacher, Australian singer Kat Frankie, Canadian singer Mark Bérubé, as well as Swiss percussionists Till Lingenberg, Didier Métrailler, and Alberto Malo.
